Jambo Bwana – Hello Mister

The Mutheu Sisters from Kenya share a local traditional song, welcoming us all to Kenya!

“Jambo Bwana” (in Swahili “Hello Mister”) is one of the best internationally-known Kenyan pop songs. It was first released in 1982 by Kenyan band “Them Mushrooms”.

The song is used in today’s scenario by Kenyans as a welcome song to guests, mostly tourists from around the world.  Upon arrival in Kenya from a foreign land one cannot miss to hear this song being sang to them by a group of people. It has become the nation’s way of telling the people out there welcome to the land of no worries. “Kenya yetu hakuna matata” – Our Kenya has no worries”

Jambo Bwana
Habari gani, mzuri sana
Wageni wakaribishwa
Kenya yetu  hakuna matata

Kenya nchi yetu
Hakuna matata
Watu ni wazuri
Hakuna matata

Hakuna matata
